History

If you are driving around Kalamazoo, MI, chances are, you will pass one of Fulton’s ‘yellow and white’ trucks. One might be hauling aggregate, another hauling sand, and another hauling heavy equipment – they are all a part of our 30+ truck fleet and are used to serve your trucking needs.

The story behind the trademark bright ‘yellow and white’ is hard to miss, and was, of course, the idea of the founder, James Fulton Sr. or “Sr.” which everyone knew him as.

Before Sr. started James E. Fulton & Sons in 1972, he was in the business of selling construction equipment. Sr. knew that the color ‘yellow’ meant “high-visibility” so when he started his company, he had all the trucks painted ‘yellow and white’ to stand out. Sr. also knew the importance of having a clean vehicle, so each week he insisted that each truck would get washed and maintained.

Although James Fulton Sr. is not with us anymore, our staff takes pride in what he started. It is mandatory that our ‘yellow and whites’ get washed weekly keeping Sr’s legacy strong.
